I have pleasure in announcing that we will be running the 73rd annual Fareham Music Festival over the weekend of Friday 4th May to Sunday 6th May 2018. All our classes this year will be at West Hill Park School in Titchfield. If you have not visited us before I would like to take this opportunity of explaining what we do and inviting you to enter yourself and/or your students to the Festival.

Fareham Music Festival (like the other 300+ Festivals affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals for Music, Dance & Speech) is a charitable organisation run entirely by volunteers. The Federation is dedicated to providing a platform for people of all ages interested in the performing arts. We organise a weekend of music-making in Fareham with the benefit of constructive criticism from experienced adjudicators. Despite its competitive nature, we pride ourselves on creating a friendly atmosphere for all our visitors. Our adjudicators for 2018 will be Jane Wilkinson (choral & vocal) and Alan MacLean (piano & instrumental).

The Festival Committee seeks to work in partnership with parents, guardians and teachers and endeavours to provide, as far as is practicable, a safe and secure environment for all participants. If you are entering competitors who are children or vulnerable adults, please draw the attention of their parents/guardians/carers to our Federation’s “Child Protection Policy” and “Creating Safer Festivals for Everyone” document, and remind them that they are responsible for the safety of their children and should accompany and supervise them throughout the Festival.

Entry forms will be uploaded to the website in December. The closing date for entries is 1st March 2018. I look forward to welcoming you to our Festival. If you have any questions please call, write or email me.
